The Patek Philippe Aquanaut surprises with fine details for its 20th anniversaryTo mark the 20th anniversary of the Patek Philippe Aquanaut, the Swiss watch manufacturer launched a men's wristwatch in 18 carat white gold. The sporty, dynamic Aquanaut collection found its way to the public at the Basel watch fair in 1997. The new watch combines the elegance of the valuable precious metal with the sportiness of a masculine and extremely robust sports watch.
Large case made of fine gold The Patek Philippe Aquanaut men's watch in the reference 5168G is the first model in the series made of white gold. Its case with a diameter of 42 millimeters also sets it apart from the previous models. This makes the watch the largest wristwatch in the entire collection. The format is a nod to the Nautilus model. It dates from 1976 and also had a diameter of 42 millimeters. To this day it still bears the affectionate nickname Jumbo.
Innovation in the dial The color of the dial of the anniversary Patek Philippe Aquanaut is also new. It appears in a strong night blue, which darkens towards the edges in a sophisticated gradient to black. There is also a fine embossed structure on the dial and applied luminous numbers made of white gold. The five-minute luminous indices are also new. They impress as white gold appliqués. The bezel design remains unchanged. It is rounded in an octagonal shape and retains its vertical satin surface with polished and bevelled flanks.
