In 2015, IWC offers its customers the new Portugieser with annual calendar, Ref No.: IW503501, IW503502 and IW503504, a new version of the IWC classic. When you first look at this watch, the new complication is immediately revealed: the month, date and day of the week are displayed on the dial at “12 o’clock” in three separate, semicircular windows. The complication of this new Portuguese falls somewhere between the simple date display and the perpetual calendar. The manufactory movement boasts a power reserve of seven days, which can be read on the number three. Nevertheless, it was important to ensure that the annual calendar can be corrected as easily and conveniently as possible using the crown.
The appearance is very similar to the original Portuguese from 1939, as the almost unchanged Arabic numerals can be seen on the dial and the design is also characterized by a grooved bezel. The numbers are available in argenté or midnight blue, on which a sunburst creates dynamic light reflections. The black alligator leather strap is part of every version of this Portugieser, regardless of whether a stainless steel or pink gold case is selected.
As a special extra to this distinctive movement, this watch has a sapphire crystal display back so that the wearer can view all the technical sophistication.
This new model is a real specialty and shows pure elegance. The wearer of this masterpiece will be amazed by its appearance but also by its convincing technology.
