Omega presents the Speedmaster New Moon with Hesalit glass
The classic Speedmaster Moonwatch, which first caught the eye of the watch world, was worn by Buzz Aldrin during the moon landing in 1969. There hasn't been much change to this watch in 50 years, but that has changed now.
The classic Speedmaster Moonwatch, which first caught the eye of the watch world, was worn by Buzz Aldrin during the moon landing in 1969. There hasn't been much change to this watch in 50 years, but that has changed now. Omega presents the New Moon in two different versions (hesalite and sapphire crystal). The references of the Hesalit variant are the 310.30.42.50.01.001 with a stainless steel bracelet and the 310.32.42.50.01.001 with a textile bracelet.
The detail is inside
The built-in caliber 3861 is based on the 861. Thanks to years of further development, the caliber could also be certified as a master chronometer. What particularly stands out here is the high accuracy. This has increased compared to the older models and is now 50 hours. But this caliber is also particularly characterized by its resistance to magnetic fields. The caliber is wound manually or by the movements of the wrist. The chronograph function can be controlled as usual using the two pushers.
What was changed in the optics
The watch has been changed a little compared to its predecessors; externally, the marking point has been positioned directly above the 90 and not, as was previously the case, to the right of the 90. Otherwise, you can still find the black dial with line indices just like the white hands. On closer inspection, the totalizers themselves are also more flattened than the previous watches. The case is also made of stainless steel and the case back is also made entirely of stainless steel, with no possibility of seeing the movement like with the sapphire crystal version. Finally, there is something else to mention about the stainless steel bracelet. This is different for both versions. In the Hesalit version it is completely satin finished and the link sides are polished.
