Ready for the deep sea – the new Rolex Deepsea Challenge M126067-0001

Rolex presents the new Deepsea Challenge, with a case diameter of 50 mm, as the successor to the 2012 wristwatch

Rolex presents the new Deepsea Challenge, with a case diameter of 50 mm, as the successor to the 2012 watch that James Cameron wore into the Mariana Trench.

The watch is made of Grade 5 titanium alloy selected by Rolex, which is stable and particularly light. The material is characterized by its resistance to deformation and corrosion. James Cameron's predecessor in 904L stainless steel could withstand the pressure of the deep sea, but the watch was uncomfortable and too heavy. By using titanium, Rolex has now managed to reduce the weight significantly by 30%. The bracelet and case have a distinctive and expressive satin finish, with the exception of the crown guard. The upper edges were polished to emphasize the contours of the horn brackets.

The watch is powered by the proven chronometer-certified Rolex manufacture caliber 3230 with a power reserve of 70 hours.

The dial is deep black and clear and therefore easy to read even under water. With the new Chromalight luminous material, readability is guaranteed even in the dark. The indices and hands have a long-lasting blue luminosity. The scratch-resistant and cambered sapphire crystal completes the sporty look. The Deepsea Challenge bezel features a Cerachrom numeric disc with 60-minute graduations, making dive time easy and clear to read. The bezel, which can only be rotated in one direction, prevents accidental twisting and adjustment of the diving time. The bezel is made of black high-tech ceramic, is scratch-resistant and the color is also long-term UV-resistant.

The Rolex sports model is equipped with a helium valve and ringlock system and is designed for diving to an extreme depth of 11,000 meters. The Ringlock system is patented by Rolex and is used in diving watches. This system is the result of ongoing research into waterproofing. Thanks to this design, the watch can withstand any pressure.

The Deepsea is only available on the Oyster bracelet and has the innovative Rolex Glidelock and Fliplock extension system, which allows the bracelet to be extended without tools. Thanks to the combination of these two systems, the watch can be worn over a diving suit up to 7 mm thick.

By revising the proportions and design, the watch impresses with its aesthetics and wearing comfort and with this timepiece any challenge can be met.
