Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Ref. 25827KNRS: A tribute to the Maglia Rosa

When sporting excellence, technical sophistication, and historical heritage come together, a watch like the Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono "Cycling Edition" is born.
With the reference 25827KNRS, Tudor launches a distinctive and at the same time surprising special edition, inspired by one of the most prestigious stage races in the world: the Giro d’Italia.
From the deep sea to the Alpine passes
The original Pelagos FXD was designed for elite units of the French Navy: robust, lightweight, and battle-tested.
Now Tudor strikes a stylish chord with the chronograph version in a carbon case, bridging to cycling.
Clearly inspired by the Giro in color: pink and black dominate the look, a tribute that impressively combines sportiness and elegance.
But why pink, actually?
The Maglia Rosa: When a newspaper color becomes a legend
The story of the Maglia Rosa, the famous pink jersey of the Giro d’Italia, begins in 1931: Armando Cougnet, a sports journalist at La Gazzetta dello Sport, proposed awarding the race leader a special jersey as a visible sign of success.
Since La Gazzetta was printed on pink paper, the choice fell on exactly this color.
Thus, one of the most iconic sports symbols worldwide was created.
The first wearer was Learco Guerra, a name still known to cycling fans today.
Since then, the Maglia Rosa has been worn by legends like Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx, Marco Pantani, or Alberto Contador, especially on the notorious mountain stages that established the Giro's reputation as an epic race.
Technology meets aesthetics
The Pelagos FXD Chrono 25827KNRS is much more than just a design statement,
it is a functional high-performance sports watch, equipped with the manufacture caliber MT5813:
• Chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch
• 70 hours power reserve
• COSC-certified precision
The carbon case combined with the titanium back ensures extremely low weight, ideal for sporty use.
The bezel is equipped with a 60-minute tachymeter scale that works in symbiosis with the rehaut tilted at 45°.
There is a newly calibrated tachymeter scale, whose inner ring displays the speeds achieved by cyclists.
Tudor has reimagined the classic tachymeter scale for the Cycling Edition, focusing on realistic speeds in cycling.
Instead of scaling like racing cars to over 300 km/h (e.g., Rolex Daytona), the scale was adjusted to meaningfully display typical cyclist speeds between 25 and 60 km/h on the flange.
How it works:
• The scale has been converted so that, for example, at a distance of 1 kilometer and a stopped time of 1 minute and 20 seconds, you can read a speed of approx. 45 km/h.
• If you need 3 minutes for one kilometer, that results in a speed of 20 km/h.
Simple, but brilliant.
A textile strap with an iconic pink center stripe, inspired by classic racing jerseys, completes the sporty overall look while offering high wearing comfort.
