Tudor Ranger, the expedition watch

The name “Ranger” was legally protected by Hans Wilsdorf in 1929, but never appeared on a dial as a model name. It was only used to categorize sporty, expedition-ready watches.

The name “Ranger” was legally protected by Hans Wilsdorf in 1929, but never appeared on a dial as a model name. It was only used to categorize sporty, expedition-ready watches. It was not until 1965 that Tudor launched the Oyster Prince Ranger with the typical robust features of an expedition watch. A clear black dial, with four Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, which are filled with luminous material. Not to forget the arrow-shaped hour hand. Over the years there were various new editions in the Ranger collection until Tudor decided on a new version in 2022 and added three new models to the Ranger family.

The 39 mm satin-finished stainless steel case is powered by the automatic movement in-house caliber MT5402, which is also COSC certified. A self-winding mechanical movement with a rotor system that winds in both directions and a power reserve of up to 70 hours. The water resistance of up to 10 bar and the screw-down winding crown with the Tudor rose in relief guarantee adventure, even if it gets a little wet. The polished, satin-finished bezel provides visual relaxation. All three models feature a matt black and curved dial. The indexes and the four Arabic numerals 12, 3, 6 and 9 have the beige luminous material. Not to forget the lettering and the hands, the latter with the arrow-shaped hour hand. The burgundy tip of the square second hand adds color.

The three new Ranger models differ in their bracelet designs.
Classic and robust with a satin three-row stainless steel bracelet with the Tudor “T-fit” safety folding clasp reference M79950-0001.
Elegant with a hybrid rubber and leather strap and safety folding clasp with the reference M79950-0002.
Traditional with a green, central red and beige stripe, textile strap with pin buckle, reference M79950-0003.
